Transportation
Close to Paris, Reims is the perfect weekend getaway and it is, therefore, well served in terms of transportation.
Getting in
By plane
Reims-Champagne Airport (IATA: RHE)
- 6 km north of Reims;
- 2 parking lots (100 long-term and 100 short-term spaces);
- Car rental service.
There is a bus shuttle available from Paris Charles de Gaulle airport (IATA: CDG).
By train
- There are 2 railway stations: Gare de Reims and Gare de Reims – Maison-Blanche, both served by TER (Regional Express Transport) Champagne-Ardenne and Picardie.
- There are 8 TGV trains daily from / to Paris and journey time is about 45 minutes. Slow trains (Corail) take up to 2 hours and a half.
By car
- A4 from Paris has 5 exits in Reims
- Road distances are 141 km to Paris, 179 km to Metz, 188 km to Nancy, 194 km to Lille and 253 km to Maastricht.
Getting around
Whilst the centre is fairly compact and easy to get around by foot, if you want to go further you should try the buses.
Public transportation
- Public transport in Reims is managed by TUR and it consists of 24 lines at day and 5 lines at night.
- Ticket prices are 1€ for a single ride (with one connection allowed in a 60 minutes interval) and 8.60€ for 10 rides.
- There is also a daily ticket available for 3€ and the Discovery Ticket for groups of 20-30 people and a fare of 21.50€.
- The Citadine Pass can be obtained from the Tourist Office and it includes a Day Ticket, a Museum Pass, a tasting at the famous biscuit factory Fossier, and a visit of a champagne cellar. The price is 12€.
- The Citadines (line 1 and 2) are small buses that will take you to all 4 World Heritage sites in Reims, as well as many other tourist attractions. Note that they don’t run on Sundays!
- Buses run from 5.45 a.m. until 12.30 p.m.
- The tramway de Reims is a transportation system planned for opening in mid-October 2010.
By taxi
- Taxis can be booked in advance but not hailed on the street.
- Still, taxis may be found outside the railway station or at the taxi office across the station exit.
