Reims’ vibrant cultural life
Whether into theater, opera or classical concerts, Reims has plenty to offer all year long. Ticket prices vary greatly depending on what you want to see and temporary exhibitions are generally not included in the museums’ entrance fee.
The major venue for operas and operettas is the Grand Théatre de Reims (13 rue Chanzy). It features, as expected, classical music and opera. Other music treats, such as pop and rock concerts may be savored at La Cartonnerie (84 rue du Docteur Lemoine).
Whether into modern or classical performances, dance events in Reims take place at various venues that manage to cater to all tastes, but the ballet performances at the Grand Théatre definitely stand out.
Theatrical performances usually take place at the formentioned Grand Théatre and the program includes both contemporary and classical works. Another hot spots for plays among the theatres in Reims is Comedie de Reims (3, Chaussée Bocquaine) which focuses on 20th century drama and film.
When it comes to films, Reims has a lot of cinemas, the most popular being Gaumont (72, place Drouet d’Erlon). Arthouse cinemas in Reims where films generally run in their original language and have subtitles are the Opera Cinema (3, rue Théodore Dubois) and cinema Multiplexe Gaumont. Ticket prices fall in the range 5-8€.
All in all, culture is everywhere in Reims and its abundance is a true delight.
